That the difference between pain and love is time. That love is only as real as you want it to be. That if you feel good, you look good but it doesn’t always work the other way around. In 2009, for his work as the author of the art/photography project “I Wrote This For You”, he was voted one of the top 5 finalists in the world in the “Best Blogger To Follow” category on mashable.com under his online pseudonym, pleasefindthis. Don’t you worry. Everything will be easier when they can just plug a fountain pen nib straight into your heart. I need you to understand something. I wrote this for you. I wrote this for you and only you. Everyone else who reads it, doesn’t get it. They may think they get it, but they don’t. This is the sign you’ve been looking for. You were meant to read these words." As much as I respect wordcraft, the author turned out bludgeoning its beauty. The writing was a mixture of simple words crafted ambitiously. Yet, it barely pulled through. Here take a read:

Iain S. Thomas is the #1 bestselling author of I Wrote This For You and Intentional Dissonance. He wrote his first book, Ignite, at the age of 23 for the Markham clothing store. It won the Grand Prix at the First Paper House Art Of Design Awards and the only craft prize awarded that year, in the design category, at the national design/advertising awards (The Loeries). If you'd tried to reach the one you loved just a little bit more, when you almost had them, your life would've been completely different." Me: But there will come a time that all people will get tired of reaching out and loving their someone. Sure, love can be given freely but then it is most tiring when you get hurt in the process. As for me, maybe this is the difference I want to make of my life - without him. If the thing you said you'd do makes other people happy, that's great but don't say things or do things just to make them happy." pg 15

If you are looking for elegant poetry with wonderful imagery and words put together in a beautiful way you've never thought of before, skip this book. I need you to understand something. I wrote this for you. I wrote this for you and only you. Everyone else who reads it, doesn’t get it. They may think they get it, but they don’t. This is the sign you’ve been looking for. You were meant to read these words.”

It's not often that you wish you could call the author of a book you just finished to talk about life with said author. I Wrote This For You is a little bit magic and words. It's a simple idea. The book is filled with poems and photo's. The photo's are simple. Your salary is not love and your word is not love. Your clothes are not love and holding hands is not love. Sex is not love and a kiss is not love. Long letters are not love and a text is not love. Flowers are not love and a box of chocolates is not love. Sunsets are not love and photographs are not love. The stars are not love and a beach under the moonlight is not love. The smell of someone else on your pillow is not love and the feeling of their skin touching your skin is not love. Heart-shaped candy is not love and an overseas holiday is not love. The truth is not love and winning an argument is not love. Warm coffee isn't love and cheap cards bought from stores are not love. Tears are not love and laughter is not love. A head on a shoulder is not love and messages written at the front of books given as gifts are not love. Apathy is not love and numbness is not love. A pain in your chest is not love and clenching your fist is not love. Rain is not love. That the sun will rise each day and it’s up to you each day if you match it. That nothing matters up until this point. That what you decide now, in this moment, will change the future. Forever. That rain is beautiful.

We live in a universe so big that a dying star, in the greater scheme of things, is as significant as spilled milk or an unkissed kiss. In an infinite amount of time, everything that can be forgotten, will be forgotten. This book provides that feeling once again. My favorite entries in this book are The Anxiety Inherent in Air, The World Is Not As Dark As It Seems, and The Truth is Different Every Day. As a creative director, he’s a champion for innovative design and communication for his clients which have included Nike, Levi’s, Johnny Walker, The Design Indaba, MTN, apple and many more, from Los Angeles, to Amsterdam, to Johannesburg, to Cape Town. His work has spanned everything from monuments to biodegradable posters. I bought the earlier version of this book when I saw it in a bookstore while visiting my mother in Florida. I was mesmerized by the combination of poetry and photography, both of which are compelling in their own ways. Together, they add more nuance to one another. The bad news is, people are crueler meaner and more evil than you’ve ever imagined. The good news is, people are kinder, gentler and more loving than you’ve ever dreamed.”

Table of Contents

This book is a collection of of poetry and photograph written for you. Not everybody will be able to understand this book. I like this kind of style to combine photography and literature because I also use it on my poems except the pictures are borrowed. LOL In the book's powerful introduction, Thomas begins with "Dear You" explaining to readers he has written the book which had been previously lost, and was leaving his hands-- finding its way to each individual reader. He continues, that he hopes the writing, poetry and photos will find "You" well and simply signs it "Me". Rather than being so abstract, the verses are simple yet precisely adequate to convey the meaning. I will recommend again this one to everyone. I recommend this book to those who like short form prose and poetry, as well as those who enjoy photography.

Iian S. Thomas is a world wide bestselling Canadian author and poet, and currently lives in South Africa. "I Wrote This For You and Only You" is an innovative form of writing that speaks directly to the reader, giving the reader an intense deeply personalized reading experience and emotional connection with the surrounding world. Original excellent photographs of various subjects and compositions are featured throughout this collection by Jon Ellis. Thomas began writing this poetry series in 2007, and since then the appeal and demand for his books has steadily increased. There are more grains of sand in the soles of your shoes than you will be given winters to dream or summers to make those dreams real.I recommend this book to jejegirls who are either in love or in need of love or broken or just feeling all the shit the world gladly offers. I guess some of them are made for me. Or maybe not. I get emotionally tangled with the words at times and I can't help but write my responses like there is some kind discourse or argument going on. Iain S. Thomas does it again. This edition of I Wrote This For you was even more emotional and even more raw filled with stunning artwork and incredible words.
