After an early career at Eli Lilly and ICI Agrochemicals, Simon spent 10 years as a strategic management consultant to blue chip life science companies. Carbometrics was spun-out after the founders sold their first company, Ziylo, to Novo Nordisk in a landmark deal in 2018. NUS surveys showed that there is a strong desire amongst students to be more involved in environmental action, and that Bristol students want to play an active role in the city.

Since March I have been employed by TMC as a Changemaker, working for 16 weeks towards a final event Creating the Future which took place on 28th June. We run awesome Change Maker programs to support emerging and established leaders achieve their purpose-driven leadership mission.

We believe that the current fragmented system and approaches fail to meet the critical challenges faced by our planet. Ruizhi is an Enterprise Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a recipient of the Fellowship of the German National Academic Scholarship Foundation. When we begin to understand this, we can develop strategies that change makers can use to to help get people ‘unstuck’. Daniel is the CEO and Co-founder of ViridiCO2, a carbon dioxide (CO2) utilisation company whose innovative catalyst technology transforms waste CO2 into high-value chemical intermediates.

He then decided to study design at the Royal College of Art and in 2013, he co-designed one of the first consumer delta 3D printers. Having a working understanding of how people make decisions is important for successful change making. Imagine a big circle that says “What actually happens in the world” and then in that huge circle there’s a tiny little circle, or a dot that says, “Covered in the news”. Change Makers continues to engage students and staff in topical discussions such as Black Lives Matter and the Criminal Justice system, Women's Health and Vagina Dialogues, Contextual Safeguarding, and more recently the Pathways film premier which explores the black British experience from a UOB student perspective. The Change Makers programme and the support from Stan’s Cafe has given me confidence and unlocked doors.

Change Makers was built on the foundation of a decade of work with start-ups and scale-ups in the UK. Starting with a current picture of the health and fitness industry's current opportunities to get a zoomed out look, followed by internal work of developing a genuine purpose and identifying unique abilities (zooming in).

I literally have more faith in humanity because of the way that John Berardi and his team have achieved such success.
