First, the book is ugly. As an adult, well-educated person, I shouldn't let that affect me, but I can't help it. I constantly had the impression that the book is set in Comic Sans. It isn't, but somehow it feels that way. Wide margins, plenty of white space, and extensive use of clip art has that effect, I suppose. It simply looks cheap to a degree that distracts from the message. Whenever I deliver a TBR Practitioner Class or a course designed from the ground up with TBR methods, I always hear stories like this which make me realise how worthwhile the TBR concepts and strategies are for any kind of learning experience. Conclusions are a short step, learner-focused with closing activities in which learners perform the following regarding what they have learned:

I focus on the desired outcome, as the mode for training should be deliberate. If I want to understand something conceptual, I may listen to an Audible book, podcast, or conference video. If it is something I’m interested in applying, I immerse myself in the learning more, usually through a classroom setting with others learners. If it is something I feel is a skill I will want to really embody, I try to teach it to others either informally via a conversation or formally via a Meetup, conference talk, or classroom.I occasionally do highly technical training (in advanced computer programming), and while I'm on firm footing when it comes to my knowledge of the technical material, I have no illusions about my abilities as a trainer. Sometimes I manage to keep my students engaged, but it also happens that I fail to catch their attention. Certainly, I could do better, so I'd hoped this book would help me.

OVERVIEW: In a nutshell, the 4Cs Map is a 4-step instructional design and delivery model that is based on how human beings naturally and normally learn, NOT on outmoded assumptions about human learning. It’s sad that our education system has done a lot of damage to some who have passed through it. We all remember the best teachers that we had at school, but we also remember those who should never have been allowed within a 100 metres of a school too. I remember thinking about how our whole approach to education for both children and adults needs a rethink based on the topics in the book. All of the exercises and ideas were awesome and I thought I knew how to make training design and delivery really work. Once you understand how your own brain is hardwired to learn, it is easy to use this information to instruct others. You’ll begin to engage learners in your class or training in various ways throughout the entire learning experience: A basic familiarity with the software platforms that will be used to deliver the class: (list apps here). If these apps are new to you, please consider viewing one of the free introductory tutorials on YouTube: (include links here). Or set up your own free account for each app and "play" with its features until you get a sense of how it works.Auditory stimulation: reading, discussion, changes in tones or volume of voice, rhythm and even music! Feeling disheartened by the agile world, I was recommended a book called “ Scaling Agile and Lean Development” by Craig Larman and Bas Vodde, which helped me forget Agile Project Management and fully embrace Product Agility. Your brain is hardwired to learn in certain basic ways, regardless of age, gender, nationality, or culture. Here is an excellent summary of the hardwiring: Psychological safety is a big deal, both in the real world and the virtual one. I know I struggle to feel safe, especially on social media at times. I have lost count of the number of posts and tweets that I have written, only to decide that maybe today is not the right time to pop my head over the parapet and risk it. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

The beginning of a TBR-styled course utilises activities and content that do these 2 things. With one or more C1-Connection activities, we prepare people to learn. We help learners become comfortable with the peculiar environment that is a formal classroom or training room (usually a roomful of strangers). Entertaining, educational, exceptional! I’ve learned about theory before; I’ve learned about technique before; but I haven’t been shown how to link them before…now I know how.” Jessica Moehr, Senior Training Specialist, WPS Health Insurance Group, WIYou can also learn the participants' names by studying their name badges. And you're not putting the class through the excruciating experience of introducing themselves to the whole group, one at a time (leave that for people who haven’t learned that there’s a better – and more psychologically safe – way to connect learners to learners!). Conclusion Firstly, the discovery should not be limited to the core and should allows making connections with existing knowledge or concerns of the learners. My journey towards becoming a Product Agility expert began with the standard Scrum Alliance courses based on the teachings of Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber. I worked as a team member in Scrum Teams and believed I had reached the end of my Scrum journey. However, when I attempted an Agile Project Management course, it turned out to be a forgettable learning experience. One of the key concepts that helps me as a traineris the 4Cs Map. I recommend it for everyone who wants to organize better meetings, run successful workshops or give engaging lectures. The 4Cs Map is an instructional design and delivery model that is based on how our brain acquires and remembers new information. It includes four parts:

When you’re comfortable using all four steps to design and deliver effective instruction, you can “mess with the map” and mix up the pieces in ways that serve your learners best. You can also create “mini-maps,” that is, breaking up large instructional components/modules into smaller “mapped” segments of instruction. The 4Cs Map is an eminently flexible and versatile design/delivery tool.Even though I’ve read the book and been using these techniques for years I have learned so much from these 2 days” see look how happy they are, this could be you too Learning More
